The New York Islanders terminated lead trainer Barry Trotz on Monday, with president and head supervisor Lou Lamoriello saying the group needs another voice.

The Islanders missed the end of the season games, getting done with 84 focuses (37-35-10) and missing the mark regarding the Eastern Conference season finisher cut by 16.

It was the initial time in Trotz's four seasons with the group that they didn't make a postseason appearance.

Lamoriello informed Trotz that the group was heading out in different directions from him Monday morning.

In four seasons as the group's mentor, Trotz was 152-102-34 and 28-21 in the end of the season games.

Trotz's Islanders teams were known for their stingy defense, twice finishing in the top two in goals-against average.

Trotz's groups didn't complete higher than 21st in objectives per game normal during his experience with the Islanders.

Trotz is 914-670-60-168 out of 23 seasons as a lead trainer with the Islanders, Capitals and Nashville Predators.
